Lenovo Thinkpad x120e

Just received my Lenovo Thinkpad x120e from the mail today. Setting it up as I write this post.

The Lenovo Thinkpad x120e is the second iteration of Lenovo's netbook like thinkpads. It comes in around the same size and weight of a netbook, but with a slightly larger 11.1 inch screen. The resolution is a highly usable 1366x768 pix.
I purchased my lenovo x120e online straight from the lenovo website with just the base configuration. I added a 6-cell battery for more mobility.

I've just been running updates and installing software when my anti-virus program came across a trojan in a pre-installed software package. Apparently the file Business-in-a-Box_Setup.exe is infected by a Crypt.XPACK.Gen trojan. I simply deleted the whole folder containing business in a box from c:/SWTOOLS/. I wouldn't be surprised if other x120e laptops might be infected as well.

As for the x120e's performance, it has been running quite fast. The windows experience score is 2.4; the lowest score coming from the processing unit. Given that I opted for the less powerful single-core E-240, the E-350 configuration might score higher. Normal window dragging and opening of folders doesn't slow the system down, although there is a slight pause as programs open. The video and music playback is quite satisfactory.

The keyboard on the x120e is one of its good features. Having the same keyboard layout as the higher end lenovo models, the keyboard is roomy and evenly spaced. The function key can also be easily switch with the ctrl key within the BIOS settings.

Overall, the build quality and features have impressed me for the price point of the unit. I would consider this a worthy addition to my gadget arsenal.
